Welcome to the Town of Elmira
A Great Place to Live!
The Town is located in Chemung County, the gateway to the southern Finger Lakes region of New York. Founded in 1792, the Town has nearly 7,000 residents. We surround the City of Elmira on three sides.
A unique feature of the Town is that the 44 square miles of our roads are equally divided between beautiful residential streets in West Elmira and Elmira Heights, and the rural roads that lead to sprawling working farms on East Hill.
Town staff are available to help residents with questions or concerns about the services provided by the Police, Highway, Code and administrative departments.
The Town is parallel to the Chemung River which many use to enjoy boating, swimming, fishing and picnicking. The Town campus features Pirozzolo Park, where residents enjoy walking trails, baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, pickleball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds and lots of space to enjoy other activities, like taking a dip in our pool, or enjoy summer concerts.
The Town of Elmira is just a short drive away from many wineries, the Corning Glass Museum, the Corning Regional Airport and many more popular destinations. The Town of Elmira is a nice safe place to raise a family or retire in.
Enjoy your visit to the Town of Elmira!
If you are a new resident please stop in and say hello.
